Preparing for TestDaF and DSH
To study at a German university you normally need TestDaF or DSH. Both assess academic German at a high level, but the formats differ considerably.
TestDaF or DSH — which fits you?
- TestDaF is standardised, available worldwide and reported in levels (TDN 3–5).
- DSH is run by individual universities; format and marking vary by institution.
- TestDaF suits applicants abroad; DSH suits candidates already in Germany.
What both exams demand
You have to understand academic texts, describe charts, weigh positions and argue in a structured way. Everyday German is not enough — the jump lies in the text type, not only the level.
Train chart description, argument structure and turning spoken points into written prose specifically.
Preparing with Lingut
Lingut trains the underlying skills at C1: reading complex texts, listening to lecture-style input, and writing and speaking marked against clear criteria.
