German B2 Practice with AI
German B2 is the upper intermediate CEFR level. At B2 you understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussion in your own field, interact with native speakers fluently and spontaneously without strain on either side, and write clear, detailed text presenting and defending a point of view.
Who German B2 is for
B2 is the working level. It is required for the recognition of many professional qualifications, for nursing and medical staff at the entry stage, for apprenticeships in demanding fields, and for admission to some university programmes. It is also the level most employers mean when they write 'gute Deutschkenntnisse'.
From B1, expect another 200 to 350 hours.
German B2 grammar
- Konjunktiv I for reported speech in journalistic and formal text

- Subjunctive II in the past for regret and unreal conditions

- Concessive and consecutive clauses: obwohl, wenngleich, sodass, infolgedessen
German B2 vocabulary
Around 4,000 active words, including abstract and semi-technical vocabulary for work, society, environment, digitalisation, education and health, plus the register control to switch between spoken and formal written German.
German B2 exam parts
In the telc B2 format the paper runs Lesen, Hören, Schreiben and Sprechen, with reading and language elements combined into one timed block. Writing is a formal text of around 150 words. Speaking is a partner exam: a short presentation, a discussion and a joint task.
The Goethe-Zertifikat B2 is modular, so you can take and retake individual skills separately.
How Deutschtrainer helps at B2
Deutschtrainer carries complete telc B2 papers, including the Beruf variants, with the real timing. Speaking runs against an AI examiner with several voices; writing is graded against the official band descriptors with a corrected version; reading and listening come with an explanation for each wrong answer.
