Lesen
Four to five parts: matching, multiple choice, opinions and a gap text on structure and vocabulary.
65 min (B1)The most widely recognised German certificate, and the usual choice for visa and employer requirements outside German-speaking countries. From B1 it’s modular: each module is taken, graded and retaken on its own.
Before you choose a level, check what the office asking for the certificate requires. These are the three most common reasons people take this one.
Modular means one weak module doesn’t cost you the whole exam. That’s why Deutschtrainer measures readiness per skill and shows you where you’re below 60%, instead of one overall score this exam doesn’t even use.
Based on the published format. Timing and the number of parts can vary by level and version, and your test centre’s model exam is always the reference.

65 min (B1)Four parts. Some are heard once and some twice, at exam speed.
40 min (B1)Two or three tasks, such as a message, a forum post and a semi-formal email.
60 min (B1)Three parts in pairs: plan something together, give a short talk, then talk about it.
About 15 minDeutschtrainer keeps its own task format for the Goethe-Zertifikat: the number of parts, the instructions, the timing and the scoring rule. Switching exams never means starting from scratch.
Four points that make the difference between “well prepared” and “passed”, and that practice often misses.
Each module is graded on its own. 90 points in Lesen don’t rescue a Schreiben at 55.
From B1 you re-register only for the module that fell short, for a lower fee.
Passed modules stay valid and combine with the retaken one into a full certificate.
Goethe certificates have no expiry date. Whether an office wants one no older than two years is up to that office.
Tell Deutschtrainer which certificate you booked and the level you need. From then on, everything points at the day you sit in the exam room.
